On the outskirts of the town, the real life James Herriot used to be a racecourse vet here. The track is a flat racing circuit.

The course is a left handed (anti-clockwise) oval circuit of 1¼ miles, with an extended straight for races up to six furlongs. There are slight undulations in the home straight.

Admission:

Thirsk has three enclosures, Club (£19), Paddock (£13) and Family (£5)

Location:

The course is on the A61 Thirsk - Ripon road. From the A1 take the Thirsk exit and follow local signs.

Ease of public transport access: Good (Rail to Thirsk then 1/2 mile walk or taxi)

Suitability for the first time racegoer: very good

Thirsk have been approached for permission to list their fixtures in this section of the web site.
