16:07 The result stands in the last.
That's it from Sedgefield in the gathering doom a good afternoons racing and a couple of good finishes.
From a windy course good night.
15:57 Of course the betting is only a guide!!
The odds-on favourite got beaten and I have to say he looks a nasty piece of work, involved in a battle for the line with first past the post Sharadyn, he twice seemed to try and bite the winner as they battled it out.
No surprise to know we have a stewards enquiry.
The entire race was close. The eye catching runner was Finlay who must be the whitest horse to have graced a racecourse in many a long time. It has to be said he was in with a chance, only fading in the final furlong.
Actually it has to be said the winner was well backed sent off 11/1 backed in from 16/1.
Southerness was also involved in the battle for the line.
A good finish to the afternoon and I will be gobsmacked if there is any change to the result.
15:41 If you want to follow the betting in the finale then Vivona Hill is the 4/6 favourite
15:27 Perceived wisdom with bumpers is follow the betting and it was true, to an extent, in the first of our bumpers.
Rushwee was sent off the 6/4 favourite, backed in from 9/4 and easily the best backed runner of the day. Also backed was Lenny Lungo’s Triggerman 11/2 into 9/2.
It was this pair who led the field home but not in the order the betting expected.
Triton and Triggerman were the pacesetters with the favourite settled near the rear throughout.
As they turned for home Triton waved the white flag leaving Nick the Dreamer as the main challenger to Triggerman with Rushwee running on menacingly.
Down the home straight it was a two horse race but when asked for a final effort Rushwee did not respond and was one paced leaving Triggerman to come home a six length winner.
The win gave trainer Len Lungo and pilot Wilson Renwick a 120/1 treble on the day.
Rosko was a good running on third finishing 3¾ lengths behind the favourite.
There was a potentially nasty incident as they started out on their second circuit. The field were well bunched but the field had to negotiate a narrowing of the course due to some dolled off ground. As a result of the bunching Seattle Susie appeared to clip heals and conditional Andrew Adams did very well to maintain the partnership.
15:05 Well that's the jumping complete but still two races to go as the bumper has divided, although I have to say it is already getting dark so goodness knows what light the final race will be run in.
14:59 Gamble landed as Blast The Past, backed from 7/1 into 4/1 favouritism takes our second chase of the afternoon.
Always to the fore with Cedar Rapids the pair set a very strong pace and soon had the field strung out.
To be honest there were never any other challengers and as they turned for home the pair were well clear of the remainder and the nearest trio looked to be out on their feet.
Cedar Rapids led them coming into the home straight, a position he maintained until Robert Walford jumped the favourite into the lead at the last and ran on pulling away to win by ten lengths with his front running companion taking second a further nine lengths ahead of last years winner Schinken Otto.
Alex Merriman took a crashing fall on Russian Flat but got up and walked away.
14:45 Some updates Ewan Whillans who was taken to hospital is understood not to be seriously injured - just sore and teh hospital trip is a precaution.
Ballynalty Express who took a heavy fall in the earlier chase had to be put down.
14:37 Yet another 2½ race, this time another hurdle and it produced another thrilling finish and another losing favourite in what was an open market.
At one point we had four 6/1 co-favourites but in the end Nicky Richards Gunner Jack was sent off the 5/1 favourite. Approaching the second last the favourite was in front and looked to have every chance, however fate intervened and he demolished the flight losing his momentum completely.
This left Leac An Scail and Risk Runner battling it out in front in what looked to be a two horse race.
However if you looked down the field you would have seen Lucy Horner launching Tension Point with a fast run and by the time they reached the last she jumped into the lead and battle was joined in the run in. By the line the winner was one-and-a-half lengths in front.
Judge Nick Hargreave was called into action to decide the minor honours, eventually giving the call to Leac An Scail over Risk Runner by a short head.
14:08 Our first chase of the afternoon, a two and a half mile affair, produced the best finish of the afternoon so far.
Gentle Ranger was sent off the well backed even money favourite and looked to be in serious contention approaching the end of the back straight for the last time, having been with Roman Army in the lead.
However in a matter of strides he dropped out of contention like a stone and eventually tailed home last of the nine finishers.
Once the favourite dropped out Ragadore took up the running and was soon in a clear lead.
Approaching the last it looked as though his only danger was the fence in front. He jumped it well but Banoge jumped even better and Wilson Renwick launched the gelding with a fantastic run to grab victory in the final strides to record a half length victory and provide a double for trainer Len Lungo.
Ragador was a heartbreaking second, finishing seventeen lengths ahead of third placed Kilkenny All Star.
13:45 We have a delay before our next race as we need a replacement ambulance to replace the one that has taken Ewan Whillans to hospital.
13:30 A very open betting head with four co-favourites at one point. In the end Monsieur Villez was sent off the joint favourite with Gamma Velorum. The latter backed in from 13/2. Ultimately both were to pull up.
This was one of those races where there was never a clear leader, with the leaders running four or five abreast throughout.
By the time they turned for home there were only four in with a chance and, indeed any one of the four could have one.
Those in contention were Viscount Rossini, Bonetta, Delightfully and Just Posh.
Approaching the second last Delightfully lived up to his name and ran on well, extending her lead the further they ran, to record an eleven length victory.
Just Posh took the runners up spot with Bonetta a further six lengths back in third.
Ewan Whillans was unshipped from Bawnfaugh at the sixth flight and he has just been carried into the ambulance on a spinal board.
In the auction the winner was bought in for 3,400 guineas.
13:10 With the strong drying wind no surprise we have a going change. It is now Good, good to soft in the back straight.
12:59 A two mile one furlong hurdle to get us underway with a well backed odds-on favourite in the shape of Son Of Flicka (a horse which attracted some decent office money)
The favourite was with the pace from the start, sharing the running with Poseidon. Three out the favourite made a slight mistake but was in the lead turning for home, where Poseidon was beginning to sink.
More impressive was The Panama Kid, settled mid-division but was up to track the leading pair by the end of the back straight.
Two out the odds on favourite was in the lead but the Panama Kid was looming fast and at the last put in a brilliant jump to take the lead and running on up the run in to record a seven length victory.
Let’s Go Girls, nearer last than first for most of the race came with a late run to take third place with Kingsben, who seemed to have been given a gentle ride, taking fourth.
12:10 It has just started raining
11:45 Good morning from Sedgefield where it is currently sunny but there are clouds around and about. More importantly there is one heck of a strong, cold wind, which will be behind the runners coming down the home straight.
The going is Good to Soft, good in the home straight, which I have to say is something of a surprise as round about there is a great deal of mud. For those who like the going stick readings it is 7.5 on the chase course and 7.4 on the hurdle course.
One face is being omitted on the chase course (the third last)
We currently have two non-runners.
