Racing Live -  Windsor 6th June 2011

20:58 That's it from Windsor and another of their popular Monday evening meetings.

Our next action is from Newbury on Thursday, until then good evening.

20:57  In the second race Steve Drowne on Experimentalist injured his shoulder when coming out of the stalls - hence missed later rides

20:53 Well the gamble on Khaleeji well and truly went up the Suwanee as he tailed home last of the five runners.

By contrast Muffraaj came out of the stalls best of all and came home first, just.

The challenge came from Expose who was running on late, coming home a diminishing three parts of a length. Also running-on was Echo Ridge who came home third, 1 3/4 lengths further back.

The gambled on Khaleeji was running second or third for most of the race before tiring in the final furlong, coming home 10 1/4 lengths behind the winner.

20:38 Expose a little on his toes now he has a rider on board

20:35 We end as we started with a six furlong contest, this time the Read Paul Hannagan's Blog At attheraces.com Classifies Stakes.

A surreal scene in the parade ring as the big Khaleeji (backed 12/1 into 8/1) preceded the diminutive Echo Ridge. Muffraaj was a little on edge, but not in a negative way.

20:19 Well that was by far the most impressive win of the evening as Prince Of Sorrento destroys the opposition, coming home an eased 4 1/2 lengths clear.

If I Were A Boy se the pace and led until after the three furlong marker, at which point the winner made his move, having been settled behind the leaders for most of the contest.

There was a good charge for the minor honours with One Hit Wonder, who missed the break, leading the remainder home.

The favourite Indian Valley did well to finish third having been given to much to do by rider Harry Bentley.

The front running If I Were A Boy came home fourth.

20:15 The penultimate contest is the sportingbet.com Handicap over the mile with eight of the original twelve due to line up.

Migun Bell was swishing his tail, One Hit Wonder was slightly on his toes and Prince Of Sorrento was a little jig-joggy. Al Aqabah looked nice.

19:48 A race where the complexion changed in the final furlong and trainer David Evans had a 1-2.

Cadeaux Pearl seemed to be galvanised by the first time blinkers as he set out to make all. A furlong out it looked as though he had stolen the race.

Style and Panache and Scarlet Rocks had been in second and third spot throughout and were slowly eating into the lead until a combination of their speeding slightly and Cadeaux Pearl slowing resulted in race on.

In the charge for the line Style And Panache edged clear by half a length, beating Scarlet Rocks with the front runner a further neck back in third.

Regal Approval and Perfect Pastime were sent off joint favourites and both were in rear for most of the contest and never a threat. Perfect Pastime was doing his best at the end of the contest but had been left with too much to do but did head his market rival.

Love Theme finished last. Interestingly for a race where they were strung out for most of the race, teh field were separated by only 3 1/4 lengths by the end.

19:39 We are already into the second half of the evening as they go to post for the Chevron Malta Holidays Handicap over five furlongs with six de to line up.

Regal Approval is now ridden by Hayley Turner who mounted on course!!! Perfect Pastime was the fractious one this time and Scarlet Rocks was a little jig-joggy.

19:25 It looks as though the tactic tonight must be play up in the parade ring then go on and win.

This time it was Ken's Girl who made a mockery of paddock watchers. Leading from the off, pulling hard, he made all, holding off Chain Of Events in the closing stages to hold on by a length, a winning spare ride for Fergus Sweeny.

Aspro Mavro was with the pace throughout and was only a length further back in third.

Hard luck story of the race must be Edgeworth, very slowly away and arguably not given the best of rides by the inexperienced Josh Baudains.

Urban Space was sent off the favourite and although tracking the leaders in the early stages ended up beating only one home, 23 lengths behind the winner.

19:07 Another 1m 2f contest, this time the Mercers Law Handicap, with 11 going to post.

Ken's Girl was very fractious in the parade ring, Mr Harmoosh was pulling and slightly on his toes. Urban Space is tiny - looks more like a pony. Two jockey changes, Fergus Sweeny rides Ken's Girl and Jamie Spencer rides Meglio Ancora.

18:51 A very disappointing run from the favourite Experimentalist, settled in rear and needing strong urging to eventually finish third, looking very unimpressively.

By contrast Soccerjackpot set out to make all and three out it looked as though Adam Kirby may have slipped his rivals. Matthew Davies on the second favourite, Song To The Moon, was riding a patient race and was gradually cutting into the lead, running on a furlong out and coming home a comfortable 1 1/4 length victor over the front runner.

It was a further five lengths back to the third.

Dream Of Fortune filled fourth spot, having raced in that position for most of the contest.

Triumphus, who was with the pace in the early stages, dropped out tamely finishing tailed off last, 14 lengths behind his nearest rival.

18:40 Race two is the Affordable Racehorse Syndication With Jamastir Racing Claiming Stakes, with six lining up for the 1m 2f contest.

Something spooked Experimentalist at one point in the parade ring, but after a second handler came out he was fine. Nothing much else to report.

18:22 Well if Rebellious Guest can take a race like this relatively easily despite fizzing up in the parade ring, how much better will he be if he settles?

Produced relatively late by Tom Queally he hit the front half a furlong from home, pulling clear to record a three length victory.

This seemed to be a race for recalcitrant horses as Red Aggressor took second spot, some two lengths clear of the remainder who were headed by Knight Vision.

Armiger, who had set out to make all, had to be content with fourth spot, three parts of a length further back.

Zulu Angel finished a credible seventh, having missed the break, going down by 7 1/4 lengths.

Favourite Cockney Rocker came home seventh.

18:14 Red Aggressor has been quickly recaptured and Robinson is now back on board.

18:12 Red Aggressor has unshipped Philip Robinson going to post

18:01 A 15 runner, six furlong, maiden to get us underway and only four of them have raced before.

Clean Bowled looks a little nervous and is getting a little warm around the gills. Khazium is getting a little warm and is on his toes. Merv is quite small. Rebellious Guest had a mini rearing session but then calmed down. Music Girl is swishing her tail. Stella Express has two handlers and is pulling. Wrapped Up was on her toes and whinnying and Zuzu Angel is jig-joggy.

17:46  I have not walked the course myself but somebody who has tells me it is not that soft, it is definitely on the soft side as good  but "not as soft as some may be expecting"

17:20 Still none the wiser regarding South Africa night - there is a stage with some South African flags round it - so presumably some arty offerings at some point. I have not seen or heard any vuvuzelas yet - so that's a plus.

16:51 Good afternoon from an overcast Windsor where it is, apparently, South Africa night - not quite sure what that entails, I shall have to investigate. The non-runner count remains at 12.

13:15 We've hit the dozen when it comes to non-runners.

11:59 The non-runner count is now 11

10:33 We have a going change, it is now Good to Soft, Soft in Places, with a going stick reading of 6.5 at 09:30. The rain has now stopped.

10:30 Eight non-runners now

09:25 Three non-runners at present, details on the right.

09:05 There has been 22mm of rain overnight so far and it is still raining, with the rain due to clear by 10:00.

The official going is now Good to Soft, with no going stick reading available at the moment. Would expect to see a few non-runners with the going change.

Some rail changes the stands rail is dolled out 12 yards at 6f and 7 yards at the winning post. The top bend dolled out 7 yards from normal configuration adding 26 yards to race distances 1m+
