Racing Live -  Stratford 28th May 2011

21:15  That's it from Stratford where a good size crowd has witnessed some decent finishes and the weather remained kind.

From Stratford a very good evening

21:10 Douchkirk came home the comfortable winner of the bumper, running clear on the home straight to record a five length victory over Forever My Friend with Master Benjamin back in third, the trio well clear of Leath Acra Mor who was running on well in fourth.

Highway Jack set the pace but paid the price for the front running tactics.

20:50 Finally the bumper, the Savills Maiden Open NH Flat race over the extended two miles.

Intoxicate was pulling, Law Court on his toes, Ohms Law a slight puller, Master Bengimin was a little lively and Miss Morwood was getting warm.

20:41 An interesting winner of this contest as Carter was ridden much more enterprisingly this time to come home an easy seven length winner. Settled mid-div he made progress to be in contention turning for home and once he hit the front it was race over.

Street Dance who beat Carter last time set out to make all but dropped out tamely as they turned for home and had to settled for fourth spot.

Lava Lamp took the runners-up spot with Catching Zeds making late progress to finish third. The Favourite Kilburn had every chance if good enough, but he wasn't and had to settle for fifth.

20:23 Our final race over obstacles is the extended two mile Help For Heroes Novices Hurdle with a dozen due to compete.

Friendly Love was very much on his toes but quietened down when a second handler joined him.

Northumberland and Big Time Billy were both on their toes. Star Potential was sweating up.

20:10 A cracking finish at the end of this 3 1/2 mile contest with any one of four in with a chance on the run-in.

In the end it was a two way go with Estates Recovery just edging out Hemington by a neck, with Shammy Buskins, who almost did not start, taking third spot.

The complexion of the race changed at the 15th when The Ferbane Man fell, when with the leaders, bringing down Troy Tempest.

Sea Wall was the fourth one in with a chance at the last but had to settle for fourth.

Horsford was sent off favourite - he was the early leader but dropped out

19:43 Our final chase is the 3m 4f Warwickshire Hunt Handicap Chase (for the Stratford Millennium Rose Bowl), with ten due face the starter.

Quite a few of them are getting warm in the parade ring, it isn't that hot here, even though the sun is out. Nothing really stands out.

19:32 A relatively bloodless victory for top weight Rebel Du Maquis, always with the pace and taken into the lead approaching two out eventually coming home eleven lengths clear of the runner-up Invisible Man, who I could not see winning.

Swing Bill was produced late, arguably too late, to finish third.

Nikos Extra proved to be another disappointing favourite, finishing a never nearer fifth.

Sunday City and The Jigsaw Man set the pace for most of the contest, the former dropping out dramatically in the final half mile with the latter finishing fourth.

19:10 Next up is the Rybrook BMW And Mini Handicap Chase (for the Gambling Prince Trophy) which sees ten due to compete in the extended 1m 5f contest.

Not many clues in the parade ring, Chicago Alley was pulling slightly, Quianshan Leader was getting a little warm around the mouth. Swing Bill is a little skinny and Nikos Extra is a big horse.

19:00 An incident paced contest in which Marley Roca's winning chance was helped by one of his main challengers, Viable, unseating at the last, although that one was beaten at the time.

Exulto looked to be making progress approaching the last but was unable to get within seven lengths of the winner.

Health Is Wealth was a lucky third a further eight lengths behind.

We winner was sent off the joint favourite, along with Dominican Monk who was pulled up before two out, having never been in the contest.

Cruchain unshipped his rider at the eight, having previously made a couple of errors.

Passato and Fighting Chance set the early pace but both came home in their own time, the last pair to finish.

18:44 Our first chase is next with eight due to go to post for the extended 2m 1f Spratt Endicott Handicap Chase.

Marley Roca is getting very warm, Passato not quite as bad. Exulto was jig-joggy but, in truth, few paddock clues.

18:40 A cracking finish to our second contest with Citrus Mark and Whereveryougoigo battling to the line, the lead changing a couple of times before Whereveryougoigo led where it mattered, coming home a neck clear.

They were well clear of third placed Living Proof who was 18 lengths further back.

Practice Round set the pace only to fade late on to finish sixth.

Sufad was pulled up after the 9th and returned in the horse ambulance.

18:10  Race two is the Countryside Alliance Novices' Handicap Chase over the extended 2m 6f with 11 due to compete.

Sufad is a big sort but is slightly on his toes, Mr Redwood is getting a little warm, Whereveryougoigo is on his toes and pulling quite hard. Practice Round is another puller and Citrus Mark is fighting his two handlers.

17:57 He was unimpressive in the parade ring, unimpressive at the start and unimpressive in running - even McCoy could not get the favourite, American Art, into the race, coming home a very disappointing sixth.

The honours went to Praxiteles who came home the comfortable winner having hit the front as they turned for home, having been settled nearer last than first in the early exchanges.

Maoi Chinn Tire came home second, having looked a likely challenger but not having the turn of foot to keep pace with the winner, coming home six lengths in arrears.

Looks Like Slim looked another likely challenger but a mistake at the last when third ended any chance he may have had, eventually finishing fifth.

Royal Max, who set the pace, opening up a massive lead at one point took third spot.

Talking of pace the race was run four seconds faster than standard.

17:39 The likely favourite, American Art, is on his toes and pulling in the parade ring. Tout Regulier is also pulling slightly and getting a little warm round the gills. First In The Queue is another on his toes.

17:28 The opening contest is the extended two mile Fossey Cup Handicap Hurdle (for the Clairefontaine Challenge Trophy), which sees nine due to line up.

Will pop to the parade ring to view them shortly.

16:59 We currently have four non-runners

16:52 Good afternoon from a sunny Stratford, there is a moderate breeze, slightly head on from the right in the home straight.
