Racing Live -  Sandown 10th June 2011

17:23 That's it from Sandown where the day has ended in sunshine.

Not sure when our next live coverage will be - we will definitely be at Ascot on Tuesday but we may also be at Doncaster on Sunday - watch this space as they say.

Meanwhile from Esher good evening.

17:13 After the respite in the previous race the carnage for bookmakers continued in the last as the 11/10 favourite Grumeti duly obliged, albeit by only a head, but a head was enough.

Spyder and Swaninstockwell set the pace with the pair holding on for minor honours, Swaninstockwell being the one getting within a head of causing an upset.

Prime Mover had been well backed but his action suggested he did not like the soft going and he finished well down the field.

16:57 We end with the Beck Interiors Founders Handicap with thirteen going to post.

Secret Edge is a little on his toes, Uncle Dermot is a head shaker. Prime Mover prancing is round more like a dressage horse.

16:39 Finally some relief for the poor bookmakers as the 20/1 shot The Only Key does the favourite, All Action by a neck.

All Action was always to the fore, sharing the running with Silver Point and Layline, before going clear two out.

Despite hitting the front he was unable to pull that far clear of his rivals and was vulnerable to a late charger, which came in the shape of the winner.

Having said that being headed seemed to galvanise All Action as he stuck his head out and attempted to battle back, but to no avail.

Ela Gorrie Mou came late to finish third.

16:26 A couple of 10 furlong contests to end the day, the first of which is the Val And Ray Golden Handicap, which sees 15 going to post.

Layline, early to post, was on his toes but not as lively as Moynahan was. All Action looked the pick.

16:23 We have a going change - it is now Good to Soft

16:10 Backers of the joint-favourite Manaaber knew their fate even before the gates opened as she was very worked up in the stalls. It was no surprise she ran no sort of race, beating only two home and never looking to be a serious contender.

Cheque Book, who was getting upset by the antics of Manaaber in the adjacent stall, set the pace only to fade badly in the closing stages to finish ninth.

Barathea Dancer and Qenaa formed the second rank and Barathera Dancer was the first to go for home approaching the furlong marker. The lead was short lived as Watneya came fast against the stands rail to take the spoils by 2 1/4 lengths.

Barathera Dancer held on for second with the running-on Miss Exhibitionist taking third.

15:47 The Mousetrap Challenge Cup Fillies' Handicap, over a mile, is next with ten due to compete.

This is one of those contests where there are no real clues, positive, or negative in the parade ring.

15:34 This is turning into a bad afternoon for the few bookmakers who have turned up as another favourite obliges.

This time it was John Lightbody, a typical Mark Johnston runner, who set the pace with Godolphin's Special Boy.

The pair were locked together until about two out when Joe Fanning asked Joe Lightbody to run-on, whilst Frankie Dettori seemed to find reverse gear on Special Boy.

Three challengers set of in pursuit of the eventual winner, with none of them looking to strike a significant blow.

Iceni Girl, who had tracked the front pair held on for second spot, with the running-on Red Czar taking third place from Rock Canyon.

A furlong out Rock Canyon looked to be the biggest threat to the winner but the run came to nothing.

15:11 Our first contest on the round course sees ten two-year-olds, seven of whom are debutants, lining up for the seven furlong British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Stakes.

Goldoni seems very unhappy with life - almost constantly whinnying and very much on his toes. John Lightbody and Polydamos both whinnying as well but I suspect set off by Goldoni, although Polydamos is slightly on his toes.

Rock Canyon planted himself coming into the parade ring. Midnight Bahia looks the best of the newcomers.

15:00 Alpha Delta Whisky had little trouble taking the second contest, coming home two lengths clear of his rivals. Breaking well against the favoured far rail he made all.

Indian Shuffle was his initial challenger but inside the final two furlongs the favourite, Speightowns Kid, began to make steady progress and it looked, briefly, as though he would be mounting a serious challenge - but it came to nothing and it was top weight Grandmas Dream who ran on best of all to finish second, whilst never troubling the winner.

Indian Shuffle finished fourth.

14:40 Another sprint for race two, this time for three-year-olds in the JTC Dobell Handicap, with seven facing the starter.

Another living up to her name is Millyluvstobouggie - who is doing her best to dance around the parade ring. Most are neutral. The betting seems to have it right with Alpha Delta Whiskey and Speightowns Kid both looking nice and fit.

14:23 First blood to the punters as the favourite Verbeeck obliges, recording a three parts of a length victory.

Dream Whisperer set the pace, chased by Verbeeck, with Backtrade leading the remainder.

Approaching a furlong out Jamie Spencer sent Verbeeck into the lead, pulling clear. Orders From Rome was running on from mid-division and passed the tiring Dream Whisperer to claim second spot, at the same time closing on the winner.

El Diamante made good late progress to finish fourth and will undoubtedly improve for her debut run.

14:15 Orders From Rome was taken to post under restraint, Verbeeck was taken down steadily, behind the others.

14:05 The opening contest is the five furlong Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Stakes which sees ten two-year-olds lining up.

Whinging Willie is well named as he is whinnying as he goes round the parade ring. Millbar is getting a little worked up and reared on one occasion. El Diamante was pulling slightly. Orders From Rome is jig-joggy. Interesting Princess Alessia has a sheepskin noseband first time out. Verbeeck looked OK as did Backtrade and they should fill the first two places.

12:41 Good afternoon from Sandown Park where it is overcast but bright. There has been a shower this morning and the going has been changed to Good, Good to Soft in places on the round course and Good to Soft, Good in places on the straight course.

We now have two non-runners.

09:20 The going stick reading is 7.3

08:08 The official going is Good, Good to Soft in places.

The home bend is at mid-configuration and the home straight dolled out 5 yards, adding approximately 5 yards to the round course race distances.

There is, currently, one non-runner
