5:42 Wow that was an exciting days racing at headquarters and we still have another day of the meeting to go.
I strongly suspect there will be some very sore heads in the Gosden yard tomorrow - I'm off to look at tomorrows card to find the Gosden / Fortune runners.
Meanwhile it is goodnight from a still chilly Newmarket.
5:35 Well there is no stopping Messers Gosden and Fortune as they land a four timer in the finale.
In a very open race Jimmy Fortune came with a well timed run in the centre of the course to land the spoils on the 8/1 shot Prohibit.
16/1 contender Kaldoun Kingdom took second, whilst Far Hollow, who had led, won the battle of the far side to take third at 11/1.
Crystany who missed the break slightly was the running on fourth.

5:00 A Gosden / Fortune 197/1 treble on the afternoon, as the favourite Virtual makes all to take the Alex Scott Memorial.
Otaared who was reluctant to enter the stalls took second but never looked like troubling the winner. Masaalek took third but may have finished closer had he not messed up the start.
The reluctant to stalls Slugger O’Toole was an eye catching, running on, fourth.

4:25 A good dour victory for the Mark Johnston trained Campanologist who beat the favourite Kandahar Run in a battling finish with the Irish raider Poet well back in third.
Campanologist was the pick of the paddock and has clearly trained on. He battled courageously and refused to be beaten, despite coming under pressure.
The favourite looked to have needed the run and will certainly be winning some time this season.

3:50 She’s called Infallible and on this afternoons performance she is aptly named.
A mistake coming out of the stalls meant she began the race stone last and was still in that position after a furlong. However when Jimmy Fortune opened the throttle, she passed the entire field and left them all standing, winning convincingly.
The blot on the form was the second was the 66/1 shot Kylane who took up the running half way, with john Dunlop’s Festivale taking third.
The layers are going as short as 3/1 favouritism for the 1,000 Guineas

3:40 Well the big one next – the Nell Gwynn – I quite fancy Nijoom Dubai even though the stable is out of form
3:15 Wow a close one here and a long time for the result to come through, so long many were expecting judge Dave Smith to call a dead heat.
Fat Boy under Frankie Dettori set the pace chased most of the way by Philario who eventually gave way with Royal Confidence looking a challenger.
Steve Drowne on the favourite Stimulation came with a late run and crossed the line with Fat Boy.
Eventually Stimulation was called the winner but even looking at the photograph I cannot see how the judge called it.
Exclamation blew any chance by being coltish in the parade ring.
Looking forward to future engagements. Fat Boy looked to be at the limit of his stamina. By contrast the winner looked as though seven furlongs is an absolute minimum trip.

3:15 Right the first of the Listed races next the European Free Handicap.
I can't decide between Stimulation and Exclamation - so neither will probably win.
2:50 Just lookig away to Beverley - Soul Sista who went into the notebook at Folkestone last Thursday has just romped home. I hope you were on her?
2:40 Well the market was spot on with this one as the favourite Art Connoisseur under Jamie Spencer ran the race as he wanted. Settled mid-div he unleashed his run two furlongs out and the result was never in any doubt.
The Barry Hills trained Servoca emerged from the crowd to take second place. His stablemate Ouqba coud be described an unlucky third as he met trouble in running.

2:22 Right pins at the ready for the next. A twelve runner 2 year-old contest with nine of them making their debuts.
2:05 Well an interesting maiden with newcomers taking two of the three places.
The John Gosden newcomer Pampas Cat was happy to track the leaders before unleashing a decisive run just over a furlong out, taking the race by a convincing 5 lengths from Daraahem with Jeremy Noseda’s newcomer Checklow looking good in third place.
Aiden O’Brien’s Tale Of Two Cities was friendless in the market and the lack of support was well founded as he faded towards the end of the race.
The eyecatcher was the fourth placed King O’The Gypsies who was a running on well.

1:55 Right here we are for the first day proper of the flat – the Craven meeting.
A reasonable crowd here but a chill in the air.
The first race is about to get under way with the question – how many have trained on?
