12:16 A minibus full of officials has just set off to the far side of the course - decision time approaches.

If racing does go ahead the first race will be put back half an hour.

Course commentator Malcolm Tomlinson is sitting next to me learning the colours - lets not hope it is all in vain.

09:36 Following a colder than expected night, where temperatures dropped to minus three, the course has been forced to inspect.

A 09:00 inspection proved to be inconclusive with parts of the course frozen in places. A further inspection will take place at 11:00.

Clerk of the course James Armstrong said, "We will look again at 11am. The sun only came up at 9am but we have clear blue skies now - we're giving it every chance."
