10:48 Our first non-runner, Ursula is out of the opener with a knocked joint.
12:44 Good afternoon from a sunny Leicester where we are expecting a good crowd for one of their feature meetings of the season.
Food in the press room today is sandwiches and a very nice selection of cakes and if we are very lucky we may get some cheesecake later on.
However the food delight here comes not from the press room but the roast beef stall - highly recommended and that is where I am off to now.
13:47 Eleven line up for our opening contest, the six furlong Best Odds Guaranteed at Totesport.com Handicap.
The non-runner is Ursula.
Nothing in the ring really inspires with several of them on their toes.
Likely favourite Beat The Bell was really chewing his bit in the parade ring. Frognal is getting warm.
14:06 A cracking finish to our opener in which the odds-on favourite Beat The Bell had led all the way – well until the final half furlong, at which point the cavalry charged.
It looked, initially, as though Indian Skipper (tracking the leader) was going to grab the contest on the near side.
However Tony Hamilton engaged the turbo-charger on Sunrise Safari down the centre, flying to the line to record a neck victory.
Third spot went to Rowayton, another who looked to have every chance in the closing stages.
The favourite was simply overwhelmed coming home sixth.
14:17 Our biggest field of the afternoon sees 16 line up for the five furlong Free Racing Post At totesport.com Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
It is funny how easily a chain reaction can occur.
The runners had been reasonably calm until Royal Opera decided to rear and this then set off Guinea Seeker and to a lesser extent Fred Willetts, who was already on his toes.
Commercial was getting warm and Nalany and Master Macho were both pulling.
14:21 May Be Sometime is living up to his name and being led to the start.
14:44 Well a controversial start which begs the question of having 16 runner juvenile races.
Scommettitrice was very reluctant going into stall 10. Once in she reared and had to be taken out and withdrawn.
Meanwhile this set off Commercial in stall 9, who seemed to fall over in the stall, he had to be taken out and withdrawn.
Meanwhile in stall 14 Belle Bayardo also set off and had to be taken out and was also withdrawn.
With 13 runners remaining most had little say in the contest.
Bunce, a newcomer from the Hannon yard and Scarlet Rocks, the most experienced in the field were soon blazing a trail and were well clear of their rivals.
They were joined in the closing stages by Drawing Board and Master Macho.
It looked as though Scarlet Rocks was finally going to get her head in front but a late surge by Drawing Board, under Richard Mullen, relegated her to second yet again.
Master Macho, also with a late run, knocked Bunce out of the place money, the front four coming home well clear of their rivals.
14:51 Up to a mile and a half for race three as five line up for the Totesport 0900 221 221 Handicap.
To the delight of many of the giggling female racegoers Green Lightning is being coltish in the parade ring.
Sharaayeen looked to be the pick.
15:08 Not a lot to write about this third race.
Frankie Dettori made all on Exemplary and never looked threatened.
Sharaayeen was the only serious challenger but never looking likely to win.
Aquarian Spirit made some progress two out but flattered to deceive.
Green Lightning, who normally front runs, obviously expended all his energy in the parade ring.
15:20 Back to the straight course for race four, the seven furlong totesport.com Leicestershire Stakes, a listed contest, in which seven line up.
No real standouts or negatives in the parade ring.
Spirit Of Sharjah was kicking out in the saddling box.
15:21 Light From Mars (5 into 3.2) is being heavily backed on the exchanges.
15:44 Light From Mars was well backed for our feature contest but, once again, failed to deliver.
Before the race connections were hinting Alyarf may need the run and, after sharing the early pace with Ishiadancer, faded to finish fourth.
Inside the final furlong Carcinetto and Light From Mars (under pressure) held the lead.
However the early pace set up the race for Spirit Of Sharjah, who needs to be produced late, and he ran on well under Dettori to take a perfectly timed half length victory over Carcinetto with Light from Mars a similar distance back in third.
15:58 Race five is the More Live Football Betting at totesport.com Handicap, a 1¼ mile contest.
Carr Hall carries 4lb overweight and Pitbull 2lb overweight.
Kyle Of Bute was having a good kick after being saddled, Marju King is skinny, Divintore and Pit bull were pulling.
16:19 A fascinating finish to our fifth contest.
Pitbull completely missed the break and came out of the stalls a good ten lengths behind his rivals, although he was back with the bunch after two furlongs.
Baltimore Jack, the favourite, had no problems with the start and set off in front.
He tried to make it an all the way lead but in the closing stages he was joined by Arashi, who had been settled for most of the contest before making late progress.
The pair were locked together in the final half furlong and it was a bob finish.
Judge Katie Boon had to resort to the camera and came up with the verdict of a nose victory for Arashi, a 20/1 shot, to deny favourite backers.
Carr Hall probably paid the price for carrying 4lbs overweight. Meeting trouble in running once he had space he ran on well, probably running on best of all, and came within two lengths of the front pair. Without the overweight, would he have won?
16:32 I have just been chatting to Katie Moon and in the photograph in the last there were just 3 pixels difference in the photograph.
Race six is the 1¼ mile Bet-in-play On Football At totesport.com Maiden Stakes in which seven line up.
Clear positive in the paddock is Langen Voraus. Green Moon looks like a head case, whinnying and planting himself.
Mataaleb is also a big negative in the paddock, fly kicking his way round.
16:50 Well Green Moon may have been a right so-and-so in the parade ring but he put it all behind him on the track. Setting out to make all and coming home the unchallenged five length winner, giving Dettori a treble on the day.
Mataaleb was with him for most of the contest but was unable to go with Green Moon when Dettori set off for home.
Newcomer Langen Voraus was a little bit green but eventually got the hang of things to come home third, a further five lengths adrift.
The winning trainer said the horse is a "big baby" and "has plenty of scope for improvement"
17:03 Our final contest is the seven furlong totesportcasino.com Handicap in which eight line up.
After the last race I am loath to make any paddock observations after they made a complete and utter fool of me.
Sarahthecarer looked nice and Haatheq was also relaxed.
Tilsworth Glenboy is getting warm between the legs.
Dovedon Diva was very slightly on her toes and also carries 1 lb overweight.
17:23 Well Frankie was looking for a four timer on Tribal Myth and he was with the pace from the off, sharing the lead with Jimmy The Poacher and Haatheq.
For a change there were no late charges and the three who were prominent early on were the ones who filled the places.
Top weight Haatheq ran on best of all to record a 1¾ length victory over Jimmy The Poacher with Dettori a similar distance back in third spot.
17:27 That’s it from a lovely sunny Leicester where we have had a big crowd enjoying a decent afternoons racing.
Next week sees the Racing For Change initiative where there will be free admission for at least one meeting each day. We will be at some of the free meetings to see how the initiative goes.
Meanwhile from Leicester a very good afternoon.
