21:05 and that's it from Leicester where it is still very muggy - next stop Uttoxeter tomorrow.
From Leicester good night.
21:00 Jockeys in the last race should have been issued with miners lamps as the light was fading fast.
We had another well backed favourite, this time in the shape of Internationaldebut. John Egan decided to go to the front presumably to avoid any trouble in a field of inexperienced runners.
Ma Vie En Rose and The Young Fella kept him company but in the closing stages it seemed that Holly Cleugh would make a race of it under Hayley Turner but the filly flattered to deceive and only finished sixth in the end.
There were no real challengers but Prince Afram ran on to take second with Ma Vie En Rose in third.
Debutant Baby Rock, under Martin Dwyer, was a very eye catching fourth and worth looking at next time out.
20:30 This certainly looked to be the most competitive race on the card and it produced an excellent finish.
Coachhouse Lady flew out of the stalls and set a good pace, clearly aiming to take the sting out of her rivals.
Two out it looked as though the tactic may have paid off. However Michael Hills launched a run on
The Jostler and it looked as though it was going to be a decisive one, however Desert Chill from the Godolphin team also launched a run and the duel began with the runner in blue taking the race in the final strides.
Some punters were not impressed as the winner was available at 1000/1 in running – so someone has some badly burnt fingers this evening.
This race is a rarity in there a few horses to take out of it – the first two and the fourth Delta Diva.
19:55 One for the bookmakers this time in a race where it seemed none of the runners really wanted to win the race.
Channel Crossing was out of the stalls like a bullet, unlike Clueless was exactly that and fell out of the stalls in a heap.
Alfie Noakes, who opened as favourite but was usurped by Dzesmin just before the off, followed the leader and they stayed in that order throughout with little change in the positions behind.
Jim Crowley did ask Alfie Noakes for an effort two out but the horse just did not respond to his urgings.
Dzesmin was a never nearer fifth.
Of the others absolutely nothing caught the eye.
19:25 Well it may have been a modest event, however it produced an exciting finish in what turned out to be a very rough race.
Unsurprisingly several runners were slowly away from the stalls.
Bewdley set the pace accompanied by Lady Amy and Here And Now, with the field quite well spread out as they turned for home.
Red Rouge came through to take up the running one out and was quickly followed by The Hoofer and a battle then ensued all the way to the line with The Hoofer getting the verdict by a running on length. The favourite Gainsborough’s Art cane too late to take third.
The only eye-catcher was Atteme Bomb who, having only her second run, ran on well into fourth under Hayley Turner.
19:10 A horror of a race next - 13 runners - all maidens who have conspired to lose 80 odd races between them. Looking at them in the paddock I can see them running to form.
18:50 The second race was one of those events where to call it a race would really be pushing things.
Burning Flute, trained by Brian Meehan, was backed from 6/4 into 5/6. Amber Sunset was the only other backed horse with the other three all drifting badly.
Samba Queen was a pain going into the stalls and once out took a keen hold running from last to second in strides but never getting past the leader Red Cell.
Burning Flute was settled in the rear by Jamie Spencer before launching his run two out, easily taking the lead and running on to win easily.
Red Cell faded inside the final furlong, allowing Ambers Sunset to run on into second.
All in all a facile victory for the odds on favourite.
18:20 Well a good start for favourite backers in a somewhat open race.
Wilbury Star was to the fore with Young Dottie throughout the race where the remaining runners were more or less in a bunch behind.
Bad Baron who looked skinny in the paddock hung badly. Abner may have finished first – in the next race he was so far behind, having been with the pace early on . Of the other runners only Splinter Cell was in contention at the finish.
All in all a very disappointing race.
16:55 Good afternoon from Leicester where it is sunny but somewhat muggy.
A six race card which is very difficult to fathom out.
We currently have four non-runners – details on the right.
