16:26 That’s it from Kempton where we have had a great afternoons National Hunt racing and a decent crowd as well – especially for a Monday afternoon.
Our next live coverage will be from Warwick on Wednesday, until then good evening.
16:24 Another cracking finish in our final contest, with a three way go up the run in.
Akram, Kilmeena Magic and the favourite Weststern were locked together with Classical Rhythm chasing them home, the former taking the race in the final stride.
The win was all the more impressive considering Akram was almost bought down at the first.
Young Keith Bowens on the runner-up Weststern really caught the eye and looks like another decent Irish import.
Foreign King looked to be in with a chance when falling in the lead two out.
16:05 The finale is the Bistro Prices from £37 Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles in which 14 go to post.
15:54 A good finish after a three mile contest.
Shillingstone, the Pricewise Extra, selection was sent off the 7/2 favourite and just held on in a duel with the top weight By George.
Job One and Majic Moments shared the lead until Job One fell at the 12th (both horse and rider quickly up OK).
Good Harvest was running well but seemed to tire in the final half mile at the same time Shillingstone hit the front.
By George was the only serious challenger and jumping the last it seemed he would be a really serious danger.
By George was certainly eating into Shillingstone’s lead but the line came in time for favourite backers.
Sarah’s Gift ran on well to come home third.
Disappointment of the contest was Don’t Tell The Wife – settled behind the leaders early on before tailing off.
15:38 Almost forgot to mention Duc De Regniere was Barry Geraghty's 1,000th winner
15:36 Race six is our longest race of the afternoon, the Win A Kia Soul At Kempton.co.uk Handicap Chase, over 3 miles and our longest contest of the afternoon.
Shillingstone was the paddock pick and Don’t Tell The Wife also caught the eye.
15:19 Well another eventful four runner contest.
They were very much in Indian file for most of the contest with Battlecry setting the pace, followed by Pasco and Duc De Regniere with Sir Harry Ormesher tracking.
Pasco was taken into the lead by Sam Thomas at the end of the back straight.
Turning for home Pasco had the advantage but Duc De Regniere was challenging, with Battlecry in reverse and Sir Harry Ormesher making some progress.
Three out Pasco buckled on landing depositing Sam Thomas on the ground and with the new rules he was unable to remount.
This left Duc De Regniere clear in front.
He put in a decent jump at the last, unlike Sir Harry Ormesher who took a tired fall (he had a tendency to jump left throughout).
Battlecry came home second in his own time.
14:57 Our feature race this afternoon is the Kempton.co.uk Graduation Chase over the extended 2½ miles.
Only four face the starter and it is one of those races not to get too heavily involved in.
Pasco is getting a little bit warm, Sir Harry Ormesher is on his toes, Battlecry is relaxed and Duc De Regniere looks good.
14:43 A cracking finish to this Qualifier.
Raslan set out to make all and was still leading two out. The favourite Fairyland had made eye catching progress down the back straight and looked a serious contender as they turned into the straight, however when asked for a final effort from Barry Geraghty he failed to respond.
Trenchant, by contrast, did respond to the urgings of Charlie Huxley and having been held up he made good progress hitting the front approaching the last.
Alderluck made very good late progress and looked to be a threat to Trenchant as they came up the run-in coming within a neck of taking the race.
Fairyland came home third, unable to close in on the front pair.
14:25 Kim Bailey has indicated the winner of the last, Midnight Haze, will re-appear next Sunday, with a massive penalty.
14:23 Race four is the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) over 2m 5f.
Thirteen face the starter and Fairyland is the clear paddock pick. Trenchant and Rajeh were both getting warm, whilst Bouggler was slightly on his toes.
14:10 Well delight for favourite backers as Midnight Haze made all to take the contest by fourteen lengths.
Prince des Marais kept the leader company until the end of the far side on the final circuit at which point Midnight Haze extended his lead.
Coming into the home straight his only dangers were in front as Spanish Cruise was his nearest rival and he was 12 lengths back.
Midnight Haze won as he pleased, with Sydney Sling running on to deny Spanish Cruise the runners-up spot.
Ouragan Lagrange unshipped his rider at the first.
Dawn Silk suffered a fatal fall at the twelfth at which Scaramouch was pulled up.
13:47 Race three is our first over the larger obstacles, the Try Our New Bistro Menu Novices’ Handicap Chase over the extended 2½ miles.
Ten face the starter and no real stand outs or negatives in the parade ring.
13:34 Well Like Minded won the contest by ten lengths without breaking sweat and despite making a couple of jumping errors, giving Christian Williams a winning spare ride.
The Jolly Spoofer set off in front, at quite a pace, soon having a good ten length lead.
Three out Like Minded hit the front and it was race over, barring jumping errors.
There was a battle for second spot with Pak Jack just holding off a late challenge from Aim For The Stars.
It is difficult to form any strong views on this run, the winner probably did not beat that much.
The only one not to finish was Silver Phoenix who pulled up two out after becoming well tailed off.
13:16 Race two is the 2m 5f Book Now For Boxing Day National Hunt Novices’ Hurdle in which 8 face the starter.
Silver Phoenix looks to be in need of the run and was very much on her toes, as was Chosen Native. Pak Jack was getting a little warm.
Henry Hook and Like Minded looked best.
13:04 An interesting contest in which the pace was set by Sarando and Hellfire Club.
The favourite, Slip, was settled about sixth or seventh in the early exchanges in the race which was run at a fair pace.
Turning for home Hellfire Club still had the advantage with Mr Plod and looking to be the challengers.
The pair had differing fortunes however with Slip somehow finding reverse gear and soon dropping out of contention. By contrast Mr Plod found a good turn of foot and he hit the front after putting in the better leap at the last.
Hellfire Club did battle hard but Mr Plod managed to hold on by half a length.
Gratification was putting in his best work in the closing stages to take third, with Lady Sorcerer another closing well taking fourth.
12:46 Well 15 of the 17 runners managed to make it to the parade ring – it seems neither of the Alan Jarvis runners need to pass through the ring like the other runners.
No real positives in the ring. A couple coming out in their coat. Carbon Print was slightly on his toes.
12:25 A return to jump racing here at Kempton and the opening contest on our seven race card is the William Hill Winter Festival – Bet Now Novices’ Hurdle, over 2m.
It is also our largest field of the afternoon with seventeen facing the starter.
11:57 Good morning from a sunny, but cool Kempton. No more non-runners but some jockey changes as Ruby Walsh will not be here today. Christian Williams will take his first two booked rides, whilst Sam Thomas taked his third booked ride.
09:21 We have our first non-runner of the day, Quartano is out of the second race with a knocked joint.
