Racing Live - Kempton Park 7th February 2009

16:41 A blank day for AP McCoy who still sits on 2,998 winners, as Aegean Dawn takes the bumper.

A blank day for DEnman as well in a performance which poses far more questions than it answers.

16:10 Well AP will not get his 3,000 today

15:29 Kauto Star is now favourite for the Gold Cup, generally 6/4 but 2/1 in places. Denman is now out to 4/1.

14:59 Madison Du Berlais took the Levy Board chase in emphatic style with Denman coming home  a far away second, 23 lengths behind the winner.

The field set of a decent place for a 3m chase in heavy going and it was no surprise they were well strung out at the end.

The winner was cut to as low as 8-1 from 66s for the Gold Cup.

Albertas Run was a major disappointment a tailed off third.

Ruby Walsh said: "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. I thought it would be a matter of just turning up.

"It took me a bit to get him involved and to get him on an even keel.

"But I got him interested down the back and he travelled great.

"He was fairly tired."

14:25 Well the first of AP McCoy's rides, Ablution, went down the pan - three more chances to make the 3,000 today. Next chance is on Albertas Run in the big one.

14:00 Pause and Clause put in a good display to take the third contest at Kempton.

Springfield Raki looked to be a very iffy conveyance for Timmy Murphy and he certainlt earned his money as the horse jinked left and right at his fences.

13:35 Has Pancake finally tossed off his rogue tag as he finally got his head in front in the second contest?

Although at the second last, it looked as though he was, once again, going to throw it away, although he did manage to fight back against Leading Contender.

However his win has to be qualified y saying the horse he beat, is also an old dog.

13:00 Three co-favourites for the opener with Tinagoodnight, Oiseau De Nuit and Pearl sharing favouritism.

Backers of Tinagoodnight must have been very hacked off as the horse planted at the start and refused to race.

The other co-favourites were both in with chances in the home straight but Pearl soon folded.

Oiseau De Nuit was in with every chance until Aiden Coleman launched Hohlethelonely with a late run to put the race to bed.

Oiseau De Nuit ran out of stamina after the last and was beaten for the minor honours by both Vicount Rossini and Kilmeena Magic.

12:21 Here are the tips for Kempton:-

12:40 Oiseau De Nuit
1:10 Leading Contender
2:15 Bally Conn
2:50 Joe Lively
3:25 Moon Over Miami
4:00 Pretty Star

12:06 We will be keeping an eye on Tony McCoys progress towards his 3,000th winner and looking at Denman's comeback run in detail.

08:00 Racing goes ahead following an 08:00 inspection.

The going is:-

Chase Good to Soft, Soft in places
Hurdle Soft, Good To Soft in places

Two prospects to look forward to - the return of Denman and AP McCoy still two winners away from his 3,000th National Hunt winner.
