17:41 Well that's it from Goodwood where the disappointing crowd has seen some reasonable finishes.
Tomorrow we will be at either Epsom or Uttoxeter but from a now sunny Goodwood a very good evening.
17:35 Hi Shinko set off in his usual front running manner to try and get his three timer and he led everywhere, except on the line as the favourite, My Kingdom under William Buick, hit the front in the very dying strides, to record a head victory.
Sunshine Always looked to be the main challenger but eventually only came home fourth, headed by Kurtanella in the closing stages.
Arachnophobia was prominent in the early exchanges but tired in the closing stages, eventually beating only one home.
17:18 Our final race sees just seven competing over seven furlongs for the Goodwood Freephone 08000 188 191 Handicap.
Hat trick seeking Hi Shinko, on his toes, went early to post.
Jeninsky was a little reluctant to enter the parade ring but once in was OK.
17:09 A race to delight the handicapper as plenty were in with chances as they turned for home and the field finished very much in a heap.
Very Well Red and Swift Chap, along with Effigy were prominent in the early stages but the lead was never particularly big.
As the field turned for home there were many in with chances and the first to go for home was Sunarise under Richard Hughes for his father-in-law Richard Hannon.
However there was to be a late cavalry charge and after looking the likely winner two out Sunarise had to settle for fifth place.
Running on best of all, to claim victory, was his stablemate Compton Blue, given another perfectly timed run under Ryan Moore, hitting the front where it mattered to record a length victory over the favourite Gifted Apakay.
It was much closer for the minor honours with the next four separated by a nose and two short heads. The order of placings being Effigy, Salient, Sunarise and Swift Chap.
Indeed the first nine were separated by only six lengths, with only Cookie Crumbles and Jewelled adrift.
16:51 To redress the balance of the earlier photo, were were some spectators here, but still very small by Goodwood standards (and the sky is a better colour as well).

16:49 Back to a mile for our penultimate contest, the Betting Shops Back Turf TV Handicap with 11 facing the starter.
Swift Chap, You’ve Been Mowed and Jewelled were, to a greater or lesser extent, on their toes in the parade ring.
16:39 Well the odds-on favourite obliged as Longliner took the money but it was an “interesting” contest.
Nerves Of Steel set the pace under Jamie Spencer, with Kashmiriana and Sentosa leading the remainder and it was these three who were still to the fore as they passed the two furlong pole.
There was a slight change as Kashmiriana dropped out and the favourite, who had been tracking the leaders, came to challenge.
The three were almost line abreast as they passed the half furlong marker, after which point Longliner and Sentosa had a coming together, leaving Nerves Of Steel the meat in the sandwich. It could be said Spencer’s reaction was somewhat theatrical and his mount was probably beaten at the time.
Longliner pulled clear to prevail by 1¼ lengths over Sentosa.
It was close for third place with Alubari just beating Nerves Of Steel by a head – had Spencer not been so theatrical would he have finished third?
It will be interesting to see if the stewards take a look at Adam Kirby’s ride on Alubari – let’s just say he looked to be tenderly ridden.
16:05 Race five is the Buy A £10,000 Racing Post Bonus Yearling Maiden Stakes, a three-year-old contest over just short of 1m 2f, with eight going to post.
Only negative was Seaside Sizzler, who was slightly on his toes.
15:55 The gamble was landed as the well backed, odds-on, Titus Mills took our feature contest but he was made to fight for victory as Big Issue pressed him all the way.
Indeed the jolly only put the race beyond doubt inside the final half furlong, recording a half length victory over his rival.
The pair coming home 2½ lengths clear of their rivals.
Although it was a hard fought victory it has to be said the winner looked ill at eased with the give in the ground and he drifted right in the home straight.
The runner-up looked to have run to the best of his form, upped in class this afternoon.
Surrey Star briefly looked to make it a three way go as they approached the furlong marker, but was soon outpaced when push came to shove.
15:38 Our feature race is the Listed Peter Willett Stakes (registered As The Stardom Stakes) a seven furlong contest with five going to pot, Memen being the non-runner.
No real observations from the parade ring, the well backed Titus Mills was the pick of the paddock.
15:28 A going change now Good to Soft in the straight.
15:26 For the second time this afternoon we have a short priced runner being withdrawn for being unruly, this time Flodden reared in the stalls and was taken out of the race, resulting in another 20p rule four deduction.
May Be Some Time was the early hare in this contest, although again the pace was steady rather than frenetic.
By half-way joint favourite Liberty Cap had taken up the running and had pulled clear.
The challenger looked to be the other favourite, Handsome Jack and it looked as one of the two joint-favourites was going to prevail.
However plans often go awry and Ryan Moore, who had settled Indigo Way in rear, demonstrated why he is the defending champion jockey as he came with a perfectly timed run to take a neck victory over Handsome Jack on the line.
Each way Backers of Sixty Roses have every right to feel aggrieved as she came home third but with the non-runner each-way payout was on the first two only.
Liberty Cap faded really badly in the closing stages to finish last.
15:01 Another two-year-old contest for race three, the George Anthony Celebration Nursery, with eight competing in the mile contest.
Bussa was on his toes, Indigo Way, was getting a little warm.
Flodden and Sixty Roses were both very much on their toes.
14:50 One of the better maiden stakes I have seen in recent weeks and couple for the notebook.
A much more sensible pace compared with the opener, with One Cool Chick taking them along.
Once into an even pace Kieren Fallon took the favourite Poplin into second spot, with September Draw, Always The Lady and Ponte Di Rosa tracking.
Two out Fallon sent Poplin to the front and soon pulled clear, however the filly then began to drift alarmingly to the right, losing ground in the process.
This allowed debutant Always The Lady to close the gap and, running straight as an arrow, she came within 1½ lengths of the winning favourite, going into several notebooks in the process.
Another going into the notebooks is third placed Umseyat, a little green in the early exchanges but running on well when the penny dropped and another who will come on for the run.
Wild Mimosa was not discredited in finishing fifth, especially as she gave several lengths to her rivals at the start – considering the tardy start fifth is actually a very impressive finish,
The early leader One Cool Chick faded in the latter stages, beating only one home.
The win was Fallon's 100th of the season.
14:24 Race two is the EBF Racing UK Maiden Fillies Stakes, a two-year-old contest over a mile, with 13 lining up.
Paddock negative is Umseyat, very much on her toes and Poplin is beginning to get a little warm.
Aeptember Draw and, even more notably, Always The Lady were very relaxed, the latter looking as though she is a bout to fall asleep.
14:12 Drama at the start of our opener as the second favourite Aragall reared in the stalls and was withdrawn, resulting in a nasty 20p rule four for punters.
Eseej and Mons Calpe battles for the lead and went a fair pace, illustrated by the fact normal frot runners Megalala and Yonder were unable to go with them.
Such was the pace the field were soon strung out.
As they lined up for home Eseej and Mons Calpe still had the advantage, although what had been a big lead was being eroded.
Two out it was all change as Mrgalala and Switched Off hit the front and soon pulled clear of their rivals, effectively making it a two horse contest.
Megalala was looking the best, until inside the final furlong Jake Hodson kicked Switched Off clear, to record a six length victory.
Megalala came home an unchallenged second, with Celticello best of the rest, albeit 11 lengths behind the runner-up.
The ride was Jake Hodson’s first win under rules.
The runners were so strung out there was a 42¾ gap between first and last and only one of the distances was less than 5 lengths.
13:50 Nothing of any real note from the parade ring for our opener, the seasoned handicappers know what is required.
Mons Calpe was pulling very slightly as he came into the parade ring, but soon calmed down.
Yonder, the only mare in the contest, went to post early and was mounted on course.
13:28 The opening contest is the Bollinger Champange Challenge Series Handicap (For Geltlemen Anateur Riders), a 1m 3f contest with 9 runners.
13:22 Forty minutes before our first race and I have to confess this is the quietest I have ever seen it here, there can be no more than a couple of hundred at most and none of them outside in the main enclosure.

12:54 The rain has now stopped and the sun is breaking through, although I have a feeling it is going to be one of those afternoons of changeable weather.
12:07 Good afternoon from Goodwood, where we are currently in the grip of a sharp shower – although all around it looks quite bright.
Two hours to the opening race and no sight of any racegoers in the enclosures, although there are some doughty picnickers in the members car park as I came in.
The non-runner count has now reached five.
09:27 The going stick reading at 09:00 was 7.7 and we currently have four non-runners, details on the right.
06:47 The course saw 14mm of rain fall up to 22:00 yesterday, resulting in a going change, which is now Good
The seven race card gets underway at 14:00.
We will bring a going stick reading when we have one
