11:00 They say every cloud has a silver lining. I'm now sitting in the café of a farm shop where I am about to have a "full English" made from all home produced ingredients.

Also the BHA have announced today's races will not be re-staged as there are ample alternate opportunities for the runners over the Christmas period.

10:10 Well I just love a long drive in the rain for nothing- racing is off. Cancelled due to the condition of the course.

09:45 Good morning from Cheltenham where, contrary to the forecast, it is still raining.

I am no expert but I think we will be very lucky to race this afternoon. As I drove to the course a few minutes ago some of the surrounding roads were under a couple of inches of water and looking up at the heavens the rain shows little sign of relenting.

07:38 16mm of overnight rain means the going has changed to Heavy. Although the forecast is now, thankfully, dry.

I hope this doesen't hit the already small fields too much as trainers take runners out.
