Tuesday 8th April
Mick Fitzgerald will, today, be transferred to a private hospital in Liverpool. Later in the week it is hoped he will be transferred to a hospital in Oxford, nearer his home.
It has also been revealed that he will require a second operation on his neck.
Monday 7th April
Mick Fitzgerald underwent an eight hour operation on Sunday to realigh three vertebrae and three discs following his fall from L'Ami in Saturday's Grand National.
The following statement was issued on the Professional Jockey's Assocation web site.
"Mick Fitzgerald underwent an eight hour operation on Sunday to re-align three vertebrae and two discs in his neck, in respect of the injury he sustained in a fall in Saturday's Grand National. He is reported to have come through the operation well and also has movement in his limbs.
"He is obviously being closely monitored by the medical team at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and investigations are also being made into the possibility of him being moved closer to home. Chloe, Mick's partner has spoken to him after the operation and he is in a comfortable condition."
