Great Leighs
Summary (Full review available below)
Please note Great leighs is currently in administration and its licence to race has been withdrawn by the BHA. There will be no racing at the venue until further notice.
The first all new British course for 81 years, the course has been built on the old Essex Showground.

Course Characteristics:
Great Leighs is an all weather Polytrack course, 1 mile 1 furlong round. There are spurs off the round course for races over 7 and 8 furlongs. The course is left handed (anti-clockwise).
Being a new course it is hard to be dogmatic about how it handles. The track apperas to be fair and there has been no discernable draw advantage as yet.
There do not seem to be that many "come from behind" runners so it may be a track that will favour front runners but again it is too early to take afirm view.
Admission
Tickets cost between £15 and £20 depending on the quality of the meeting.
Annual membership: £300.
Location
Located on the former site of the Essex Showground between Chelmsford and Braintree. The course is directly off the A321 and is well signposted locally.
By rail, Chelmsford station is a 15 minute taxi journey from the course and is serviced by up to five trains an hour from London and Ipswich. Braintree station is a eight minute taxi journey away, however it only has an hourly train service.
The course is not currently on a regular bus route. However on "major race days" a special bus service will run between Chelmsford and the course. The couese state on their website that although no such service is planned from either Braintee or Stansted they will reconsider should there be sufficient demand.
Stansted airport is a 15 minute taxi journey away.
