Ballydoyle Riding Plans Clear

Johnny Murtagh looks set to ride Rip Van Winkle in Saturday's Investec Derby at Epsom.

Murtagh had first choice of ride and punters had been waiting with bated breath to see which of the six O'Brien runners he would choose.

Seamus Heffernan will partner the well backed Fame And Glory, who he rode to win the Derrinstown Derby Trial by five lengths.

Champion UK jockey Ryan Moore will be riding the Dante winner Black Bear Island, with Pat Smullen on the Lingfield Derby Trial winner Age Of Aquarius.

Chester Vase winner Golden Sword will be ridden by Colm O'Donoghue, with Richard Hughes picking up the ride on Masterofthehorse.

13 Stand Ground In Derby

13 entries stand their ground at the six day stage for Satuday’s Investec Derby.

Aidan O’Brien holds six entries, headed by the unbeaten Fame And Glory whilst Rip Van Winkle, Black Bear Island and Masterofthehorse are also being strongly supported in the betting. Age Of Aquarius and Golden Sword complete his runners.

In addition to the Ballydoyle sextet there are two other Irish challengers. Last years winning trainer, Jim Bolger, runs Gan Amhras, an eyecatching third in the Newmarket 2000 Guineas. Whilst the winner of the Guinieas, John Oxx’s See The Stars completes the Irish Challenge as he attempts to become the first since Nashwan to complete the Classic double.

Briam Meehan has decided to run Crowded House despite a disappointing run in the Dante at York.

Godolphin are running Kite Wood, whilst William Haggas runs the Dee Stakes winner South Easter, John Gosden's Debussy and Mick Channons Montaff are also still in the contest.

Dozen For Oaks

Twelve runners remain in Friday's Investec Oaks at the six day stage.

The top three in the betting, Sariska, Rainbow View and Midday both stand their ground. Although Rainbow View is on something of a recovery mission after her disappointing 5th in teh 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

There is only a limited Irish challenge in the fillies classic with only Perfect Truth from Ballydoyle and Oh Goodness Me from Jim Bolger making the trip across the Irish Sea.

Dozen Go For Coronation

Mick Channon's twice Arc runner-up Youmzain aims it break his UK Group 1 duck as he heads a dozen entries for the Coronation Cup.

Bookmakers make him the 11/4 favourite to win the mile and a half contest on Friday.

He faces some strong competition including Godophin's Eastern Anthem, unbeaten this season, along with Ask, Casual Conquest and Doctor Freemantle.

Look Here is also attracting support despite returning from an eight month layoff.
